Preview:Taking Notes- Using a famous quote

Fredrick Douglass thoght the that the fourht of July was an unholy way to celebrate a boasted way of liberty. To him the celebration was a sham "your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sound of rejoicing are empty and heartless." He felt that the celebration was in vain because as a slave he didn't have the right to be independent until he actually ran away. He explains the day as impudence. So he really didn't like the July 4th celebration.
